For those that follow me on Facebook, the point of my #perspective hashtag thing is to see from many different perspectives so that we don’t get tunnel vision. I like to believe that if we were to collect perspectives then we would be more open, tolerant and allowing, loving people as a species. Widening the lens so-to-speak. We need to let in more light. There isn’t only one way to do things. It’s not working well enough to sustain us now and others in the future. We’re killing ourselves and the planet with these beliefs held so tightly. We have to view our lives from a higher perspective; one that allows for many perspectives, without judgement. We need to operate from a less limited view. I think it’s important to see from the eyes and wisdom of different angles. And if we can’t do that just yet, then we have something to strive for and aspire to, so that we don’t continue to make the world a more insane place to live and reincarnate into.
There are many mentors and teachers, guides and gurus that teach and advise us to increase awareness. They’re all saying the same thing, just in different ways.
“Be a student of your own life” ~ Jim Rohn
“Be present in all things and thankful for all things” ~ Maya Angelou
“Truth is not something outside to be discovered, it is something inside to be realized.” ~ Osho
“What makes you think human beings are sentient and aware? There’s no evidence for it. Human beings never think for themselves, they find it too uncomfortable. For the most part, members of our species simply repeat what they are told-and become upset if they are exposed to any different view. The characteristic human trait is not awareness but conformity, and the characteristic result is religious warfare. Other animals fight for territory or food; but, uniquely in the animal kingdom, human beings fight for their ‘beliefs.’ The reason is that beliefs guide behavior which has evolutionary importance among human beings. But at a time when our behavior may well lead us to extinction, I see no reason to assume we have any awareness at all. We are stubborn, self-destructive conformists. Any other view of our species is just a self-congratulatory delusion.” ~ Michael Crichton, The Lost World
“You practice mindfulness, on the one hand, to be calm and peaceful. On the other hand, as you practice mindfulness and live a life of peace, you inspire hope for a future of peace.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
“We need enlightenment, not just individually but collectively, to save the planet. We need to awaken ourselves. We need to practice mindfulness if we want to have a future, if we want to save ourselves and the planet.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
“To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.” ~ Buddha
“Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment.” ~ Lao Tzu
“Ignorance has always been the weapon of tyrants; enlightenment the salvation of the free.” ~ Bill Richardson
Being “awake” isn’t just knowing information about corrupt governments that start wars on other nations just to plant another international bank, or the elite’s long list of evil events like funding those wars, owning the politicians and planning things like the UN’s agenda 21. It’s not just about knowing that the US government is spying on everyone with an android and a facebook account, and using snapchat as facial recognition software or about the many cover ups and murders; foreign and domestic.
Being awake is about the courage to learn more about self, nature and our role in it, in spite of all the entertainment our societies and governments are trying to tranquilize us with. It’s the discipline to apply that knowledge and wisdom in our lives to make real change that matters. We look in the mirror and realize that all the drama no longer owns us. Waking up, is about leading ourselves out of the darkness of ignorance and our lethargy. It’s about taking what we learn from the esoteric and mixing it with what science can teach us today. As we learn about the frequencies and vibrations, emotional intelligence, psychology and frequency of love and fear, we learn to empathize and communicate. We learn about healing the body with breathing, exercise, meditation and nutrition. We start to understand the meaning of concepts like “As above, so below.” and “Go within or go without”.
By being awake you learn important things, like how to choose your time and activities differently. You’ll choose your friends and your words differently. You’ll choose your food and influences differently. This changes the world.
All of this; from perspective. All of this just because you decided to allow more light in.
Just because we’ve always done it a certain way doesn’t mean it’s the only way to do something. Just because we were born in xyz country with xyz mentality from a certain environment, supportive of a certain way of life doesn’t mean it’s the only one to view. It doesn’t mean that’s the only way to think. It doesn’t mean stop learning, reading, viewing, listening or thinking.
I have widened my awareness of myself and my actions, my words and my tone, my intention and my actions. This is how I find truth and how I have started listening to my intuition. I’ve spent the last decade cleansing myself of the teachings of my environmental captors. I’m no longer religious, I’m not superstitious or fearful, I question everything anyone tells me. I do not believe blindly, I don’t watch tv, I don’t buy shit I don’t need, I don’t care about money or working for someone with something I don’t agree with. I don’t eat garbage, I continue to work to detoxify the violence out of my habits, and the aggression from my responses. I choose love over violence, and intelligence over fear.
It doesn’t matter that someone disagrees with any of this, that’s the whole point of allowing the many perspectives. But I’d like to stop using ideals and practices that cause more harm than good. We need to change our course. We should clean our surroundings. Keep your spot clean, then expand out. Step away from those things that are sucking the energy from you. Regenerate, breathe clean air.
Make a pact with yourself. No more drama. No more stress, and no more negativity. Allow space for all others without judgement.
We don’t need to take on the overwhelming task of converting or convincing 1 person of anything, let alone 6.5 billion. Don’t take on the world. Take on your world. Work on you. Change your world and you’ll see how much more of an impact you can make as you allow instead of reject. It takes far more energy to push something away than it does to appreciate it.
Be conscious of you and your thoughts, words and actions. Be aware of your place in the universe. Be the best version of yourself regardless of competition from others. Just be.
